Cassie

Cassie is only about one year old and weighs around 40 pounds, yet she has already lived through more than most dogs ever should. She came into our rescue as a stray from a remote northern community after giving birth to six beautiful puppies. Once her puppies were safe, it was finally Cassie’s turn.

Now she’s learning what it means to simply be a dog. To be loved. To be safe. To have someone of her very own.

And yet… no one has shown any interest in her.

We wish we could explain to Cassie that her forever family just hasn’t found her yet. Because this sweet girl has so much love to give.

Cassie is fully house trained and kennel trained and has been an absolute lady in the home. She has never had an accident indoors, takes treats incredibly gently, and is eager to please. She’s food motivated, loves learning, and genuinely wants to make her people happy.

She enjoys the company of the resident dogs, including a larger male. Like any young dog, she’s still learning how to navigate new relationships. She recently had a brief disagreement with a visiting female dog, but there were no injuries. When corrected, Cassie immediately backed down and came looking for reassurance. She’s still learning, and she wants to do well.

One of Cassie’s sweetest qualities is how often she checks in with her people. She looks to them for guidance, reassurance and approval. After that disagreement, she came right back to her foster, almost as if she was saying, “I’m sorry. Did I do okay?”

Cassie has a healthy prey drive and loves watching squirrels and little critters, so a securely fenced yard would be ideal. A home with small free roaming animals would not be the best fit.

She’s waiting. She’s wondering. And she’s hoping that someone will finally see the beautiful girl we see
