Duke

Duke is a 4 year old Jack Russel. He’s a smart, sporty, water-loving guy looking for the right home to help him truly shine. He’s full of personality – energetic, incredibly intelligent, and always ready for an adventure. Whether it’s exploring outdoors, playing fetch, or splashing around in the water, Duke is happiest when he has an outlet for both his body and his busy mind.

Like many dogs who have experienced change and uncertainty, Duke can become overwhelmed when life gets busy around him. Evenings, when the whole family is home and there’s lots of activity, tend to be the hardest for him. During those moments, his anxiety can take over, and he needs patience, understanding, and a calm environment to help him feel safe.

Duke forms strong bonds, especially with women, and can become quite attached to his people. He thrives on connection and wants to be close to those he trusts. He’s very trainable thanks to his intelligence, but he also has a stubborn streak and would do best with someone confident, patient, and committed to continuing his training in a positive, gentle way.

Because of his sensitivity, Duke would likely do best in a quieter home with structure, routine, and people who understand that building confidence takes time. He’s not a “perfect” dog. He’s a real dog with real emotions, looking for someone willing to see beyond the anxiety and recognize the incredible companion underneath.

Duke has so much potential. He just needs the right person to believe in him.
